Dry rock - macro rock

Looking to order some dry rock and was considering macro rock. Was going to order 150 pounds of key largo rock and 40 pounds of prime cut. Was wondering what size rock I should order/ask for and how many pieces of each rock would I be expecting.

Anyone have any experience with macro rock? Good or bad?

I think you mean Marco rock, not Macro rock

I've used it, like it - needs a good amount of curing before adding to the tank.


Sizes are a preference that depends on tank size and how you want to scape your tank.

Ive used marco and ultra rock in my whole tank ,no live at all .xycled pretty quick but i also before hand soaked it in garbage pails for a few weeks then used my water change water with a power head for a few weeks after

If you dont mind checking New York Reefs Aquatics they have marco rocks in stock and you can chose the pieces that you want.,

All seriousness aside, I stocked my 180 with Marco dry rocks in 5/13. Since then I have been battling green/brown/ funky hair algae on rocks almost non-stop. Besides weekly 10% water changes, I've done Algae Fix Marine, ATS, mega GFO, mega skimmer, carbon dosing, yadda, yadda, and no matter how low the PO4 and NO3, it keeps coming back. I would definitely recommend that you do PO4 decontamination of rock before firing up your system.
