I am planning to hang a 36 inch light fixture from arms mounted to the back of my stand. They are mounted about 42 inches from each other. That means the wires will not hang straight down, but angle inwards for some distance. The mounting arms only have one hole. The wires are the standard Y type, with one wire going to two on the light.

Will this be stable?

I keep imagining a situation like a hammock in the old cartoons, where the person gets spun around and around.

I think I get what you are talking about. 2 arms. One main wire from each one, but at the light it splits into two. So there are actually 4 wires that attach to the light. But only 1 wire to each mount.

I think that it will be fine..... Check my build thread below and you will see how I mounted my lights. While they are 2 small lights, the theory of the wires seems to be the same...

Check the 75 gal build thread below.
