I posted this in #reefs but didn't hear from anyone for 4 minutes, so I will post it here. :lol: I have a basic 40W, 48" unit over my sump, and the light just crapped out. I got a new light, but it is a 36W. The pins look the same. Can I put it in there without burning the house down?

I'm not a lighting or electricity expert, I plug it in, it lights up. I change the bulbs now and then...that's pretty much it.
I just wanted you to feel the love is all.

Yep.


32w are t-8 (1" diameter) 40w are t-12 (1.5" diameter). A 40w ballast will fire both with only 32 w being drawn by the t-8.
