Well, the $1,750 we were going to use for the D70 is now being used as down payment to replace some of the windows in the house (7 are done...15 this shot, another 17 after that!). I'm not thrilled, but it needed to be done, I guess. The D70 will be delayed for another 3-4 months. The Coolpix 880 that I gave my g/f's daughter crapped out with the lens sticking out (as I posted before) and it'll cost more to fix it than a new camera. So, I need a cheap camera for eBay auctions and whatever during this non-D70-time. I mean *cheap* but still around 3mp. Good macro is important.

Less than $150 would be ideal.

Please help!

Peace,

Chip

There's a whole gang of used cameras (particularly from Canon because they keep replacing their models twice a year) for under $150.

If you want new, well, it's slim pickings. The Canon A310 is 3.1 megapixels and under $150, retail. It's a fixed lens though, so for about $166 retail (likely under $150 street), the A400 has zoom.

Fuji A330 is a 3.1mps cam for under $150 street. It's a nice camera for the value (have used it a few times) and all Fujis are generally well made and easy to use.

I have no experience with Olympus, but they have the D-560 at $150 and 3+ mps

Nikon 3200 (better for aquarium photo) would be my pick for macros. Get the refurb. New is a little under $200, so it's not too bad.

Okay man, thanks much for the advice. This camera is non-compatible with my lithium ion rechargables, I think, but I'm gonna have to get screwed somewhere...
