Do you need to? All there is going to be are snails, hermits, and the live sand critters. Mainly I'm worried 'bout the sand critters. Will they get enough from the main tank or do they need a little boost.

One way to test is holding a fine mesh net by the water entrance to the refugium, hold it there for a couple hours, see what you catch.

Personally, I feed mine a pinch of flakes everyday to keep the critters happy. I start with a small pinch of flakes and observe all the worms and pods fighting over the flakes. Add another pinch, this time should be less pods grabing the flakes. Repeat this until you are satisfied.

I feed mine a small amount of pellet of flake food in the morning, and then a larger amount at night after the lights turn off.

Don't feed too much at once, just slowing start increasing the amount of food you feed them. The critter population will start to multiply very rapidly. And after about a month you should see a huge population explosion of pods. Unless you have any other predators down there you might not know about.

Cool....

I'll probably need to feed as very little gets by in the main tank. What the fish don't finish the corals/inverts do. I'll try the net test and see.

Thanks

I pour DT's or Micro-vert into mine about every week or so. It slwoly gravity feeds back into the sump and then the display tank tank. Seems to work great, my refugium is teeming with algae!
