No you dont have to feed them directly anything like you would feed an anenome. But you should be placing in some kind of solutions in your tank in order to keep them alive such as ZooPlex. Its your choice what you use.

Deanons FYI zooplex is http://www.petsolutions.com/Default.aspx?ItemID=51900831 And i find it very helpful with a reef tank. Also you need appropriate lighting.

Ah, that stuff! How do your zoanthids react when you dose the ZooPlex? Can you be more specific on how it has helped your reef tank? We want to make sure our fellow readers know what to expect, when spending money on "recommended" products.

I am not the only reefer using it here there are plenty that use ZooPlex. If you dont believe in it thats fine thats your personal opinion but it has done quite well for my tank and i will continue using it.

We are always going to spend money in this hobby no matter what. Either its on this or on that. As you probably know its a really expensive hobby and most of our money goes to it. you might purchase something that i find "recommended" product that i wouldnt never buy. Like i mention before its a matter of opinion and likes and dislikes. The fellow asked a question and i answer but it seems that you know better then let it be that way.

Marki24: You still haven't said how your zoanthids react to a dosing of ZooPlex or how that product helped your tank. Those are the answers, people want to know when buying a product. My questions have nothing to do with whether I believe if the product works, but with informing the members of Manhattan Reefs.

WaterBoy: Here's more information on zoanthids.

Excerpt: Thus, we can see that some zoanthids may enjoy feedings, some (especially certain azooxanthellate Acrozoanthus and Epizoanthus) may require food, and others may not even accept food that is offered to them...instead turning up their tentacles and stomping off in a huff at the audacity of such poor culinary choices. If a zoanthid is large and seems to rapidly consume food, one can assume that it will benefit from occasional feedings. Otherwise, they are likely getting enough from the immediate environment.

I have some zoos that close up and eat the food when i target feed them. Then i have others that don't care for food, so it all depends. Like the quote above, you will see which like to be fed based on their response to food.
