Fiji potential coup (again)

Just curious: has past Fijian coups disrupted the Fijian marine ornamental trade? Another one is looming, it appears.

If air flights are effected in any manor I'd suspect it would have a direct effect on MO shipping. No tourists, no room for MO.

Fiji's military commander said today that he had seized control of the country from the elected government, dismissed the prime minister and appointed an interim replacement. Commodore Frank Bainimarama told a news conference that he was using special powers under the constitution to assume the powers of the president and replace Premier Laisenia Qarase.

So, has this had any affect on shipments? I know sometimes things slow down at the end of the year because of permitting issues anyhow.

Helen Sykes, a naturalist in Fiji I met there 2 weeks ago told us then that if a coup happened most fijians would not even notice it. I found that true as there is no TV, radio or newspaper on most of the Islands unless you seek them out.
