We had a power failure this afternoon which apparently blew out my filter. I can't run out now to get a new filter, but do have a somewhat new BioWheel from my old freshwater tank. Can I use that in a pinch until i can get a new filter tomorrow? If now what can I do to keep my fish alive until then? BTW - I have a 33 gal tank with just 2 damsels.

Thanks for your help!! Laura

If you have water movement in there you'll be fine until tomorrow. What were you running your filter anyways? What kind of filter was it?

If it just one or two days, it will be fine without the filter. The biowheel has no bacteria on it anyway, and it will takes several days for it to start to do anything anyway. However, if the filter is the only water movement for your tank, you should set up to oxygenate the water.

The biowheel should move enough water. What type of filter were you running that stopped? Did ya check to make sure it's not just "gunked" up?
