He said, "Instead of fine print that hides the truth, we need credit card forms and statements that have plain language in plain sight, and we need to give people the tools they need to find a credit card that meets their needs." The president also stressed the need "to strengthen monitoring, enforcement and penalties for credit card companies that take advantage of ordinary Americans." and wished to sign a new bill by Memorial Day for the financial reform.
I have been very vocally critical of the financial industry, including loaners and insurance companies, who have been preying on general public's ignorance to gain their wealth by using tactics such as fine print, crytic language that even not-so-bright-lawyers may not understand. The sad thing is that many Americans have been misled and confused by the high officials of those firms into thinking that it's only the general public's responsibility to live with their means. The failure of those banks who bought and sold structured bonds to make profits are CLEARLY living beyond their own means.
