OK guys and gals here's where we stand right now. I spoke to a friend of mine who I used to deal with. He no longer deals with saltwater and here's why.
over the last 10-15 years the east coast has raped transshippers. the best livestock goes to germany ( they pay triple what we pay). next it's cheaper to send to the west cost so what happens is the fish get sent to the west coast they then get (sometimes) repacked and shipped here to wholesalers on the east coast, the cost gets passed on. he gave a couple of numbers of other wholesalers and I'll see what else I can do.
corals have gone through the roof price wise and shipping has gone up across the board since Katrina. expect to see higher livstock prices in the LFS.
in his own expierence he has found that the reputable LFS are dealing direct and not using wholesalers for saltwater.
wish me luck
