Fixing Acrylic Sump

A friend gave me a very nice, large custom sump that I'd like to use. Only one problem, it's leaking at one of the seams. It looks like it pulled apart for some reason of the other. That section holds about 30g of water, so I want to make sure its safe before setting up.

My thought was use weld-on #3 in the seam(s) that are split, then get acryling rods that are squares and using weld-on #16 to attach those to all the seams. Would that work?

If you seal it with weld-on it will chemically bond it together, so you shouldn't need to put any additional support on it, unless it wasn't put together correctly in the first place, then you would probably need to add support to it.

Think it was a custom king sump, definitely looks sturdy probably just stored for too long or in the cold or something like that. I'll get the weldon #3 and get it done.

If it's a Custom King, then it's put together very well, so I wouldn't worry about it. You can always send him a picture and ask his opinion.

Gonna take a stab at fixing this one. Ordered some Weld-on #4 and going to get some acrylic corner strips and line all the corners from the inside and glue those on after i repair the seams.

Then i'll water test outside for a week and go from there.

When in doubt...
Throw it out.
Unless you ABSOLUTELY know that the repair will hold 110%. You don't want the headache of a blowout.
