I've been on to that forum for some time now.. Some of the people there just have too much money,,lol.. Bookcase doors require more hinges thab that with regular use that door will only last about a year...

How did I know you would be the first one to respond or Russ [SWC] to this thread or at least appreciate it .. :) that was my concern as well, I also didn't see any lock / closing mechanism...do you think he is using some kind of spring closing hinges...

Most likely.. But I'd definety create a steel frame at least behind the wood for the weight of that door, that what I did for a friends bedroom door..


The weight of the door should be picked up by casters/rollers underneath the door itself. The hinges & door jambs should NOT be picking up the weight of all that trim. When the door rolls open and closed it is probably less weight/stress on the hinges/jambs than a standard solid wood 6'8" door.
