This thread probably won't be much help yet because the internet is down at my house due to some new construction so I can't post pics yet. I hope to have them on here by the end of the day but anyway....
I have had a piece of live rock in my tank for about 1 year and i has always had a few zooanthids growing on it that seemed to go dormant for about a month or two when I was battling cyano. But last night the polyps were finally opening up nice and the I saw this new critter about the size of a nickle. It is covered in coraline algae and I am very sure its not another zooanthid. The reason I think this is because it opens up split down the center like a clam or scallop. It has like a light white film or something in the center where it opens up but it is not solid i has some gaps in the opening. And when a fish swims buy it closes very quickly and then slowly opens back out. I imagine you could probable stick like a finger nail or so in side of its mouth. Another reason I don't think it is a zoo is the coloring is nothing like the the rest this is covered with coraline and has whiteish edges on the inside and all thee zoos are dark green with orange edges.
I hope to get a picture on here soon but I am just testing the water to see if anyone can help me identify it. I am a little excited to find out what the heck it is.
