frag plugs

what are the options(if any) out there for frag plug placement. in other words, do i keep the plug that the frag is on? or do i cut the frag off? if im to cut it off, how would i do that?

Depends.

Usually I just break the stem off and glue the remaining chunk to the rock where it will live for ever and ever

If you're talking about SPS I would say break them off and mount them to a rock if you want your tank to look more natural and aesthetically pleasing.

All the weird plugs used today (sprinkler plugs, golf tee, ceramic disc, acrylic cube/dowel etc) are more difficult to mount and make the shape of he coral kind of strange as it totally encrusts. Not to mention it look pretty bad initially
