is there worry of 'sand burn' for the corals if they start growing too far down the plug?
I ask because I have a micro that is on a plug and its decided to grow DOWN the plug which is annoying. It's still too small and weird to take out of my in display egg crate and glue to a rock.

I was thinking I'd break the base of the plug (the long pointy part) and then glue that to a rock...but was worried sand would be a bad idea.

IS your rock very small and very close to the sand? If not, I would not worry.
