nope....just need a light source and enough flow for the types of coral frags your're keeping and just make sure that no fallen frags get sucked into pumps, skimmers etc....
It might sound like a stupid question but I'm guessing you wanna put frags in your sump lol.
The only problem i see is that your going to have to put a very good light in the sump to keep the frags growing i don't know if you have cheato or any stuff like that in your sump they have a different light cycle to the frags that you wanna put ............................
Not sure what you mean by different lite cycle? I have acan LEDs on the display tank that run from 8am to 10 pm then I have a t5 fixture on the top of the sump that runs from 10 pm to 6am. I do have chaeto and the stuff in the refugium
Maybe it's reference to the color temps of teh bulb, most use a yellowish bulb for the macro in the sump. But if you run daylight I don't see why that would be a problem.
The fixtures has dimmers two hours moon lites then 2 hours blue lites then whites come on at 40% and so on until they start to dim again and go off at 10pm. I've only had the acan LEDs for two months but very happy with them so far! Save on the electric bill ! Makes up for the price of the fixtures quick! Chiller hasn't run since purchasing the lites.
