Has anyone ever had the issue where the fresh batch of salt water mix was hazy prior to adding it to your tank? This happened to me a few weeks ago after I changed my filter cartridge. Masterswimmer and I exhausted all ideas and came to the conclusion that it was either the filter cartridge (perhaps I didnt let enough rinse through first) or it was the salt mix (which is the same bucket I've been using without a problem from day one). After dumping the water and making a fresh batch, it mixed clear and I did a water change. Now two days ago I made a batch and it was cloudy again. I decided to eliminate both variables and went to my LFS which sells RO/DI water and got a bucket full and opened a fresh bucket of salt. Needless to say, its the same thing. I've never had this problem before, and the only other thing I've changed recently is adding the salt the day before and letting it sit overnight to completely dissolve and then heating and mixing it the next day. Could that be the problem? Be aware that letting it heat/mix for a few hours doesnt get rid of the hazyness. Last time this happened, I checked all the parameters of the water and everything was within a normal range. The only other idea Masterswimmer had was that it had to do with the TDSs in the water, but seeing as how I got water from two different locations, this shouldnt be the case. Any other ideas? Could it just be precipitating out of solution because the water sat overnight without being mixed? Will it be ok to add to the tank? Any ideas?

Purely a guess on my part Mike, but I think it's what you mention above.
When I was doing my last tank upgrade I ran into the same thing. I didn't have enough pumps available to mix the water right away..so I added the salt and let it sit and it got cloudy. No amount of heating or aggressive mixing made it clear again.
I did test the water and the parameters seemed fine. I didn't have the time then to research that if the calcium precipitated out -but was still in the bucket - if I would get a reading on it anyway while testing. (hope that made sense) I was too uncomfortable with it and tossed it anyway..60g of water..sigh.

Better safe than sorry!
Curious.. did you dump the salt in quickly?
