fresh water dip and algae

Anyone noticed if algae survives fresh water dips while they are dipping their corals?
I found that going to hyposalinity does kill off algae within a short about of time, but haven't tried direct dipping.
I going to assume that some algae (ie bubble) can survive since they can handle rain during low tide.
