is there a consensus regarding how often the water should be turned over in a mini-reef.
i have an aga 54g corner with a rio 2100. this last weekend i did the durso standpipe and eliminated the last of the physical filter media (the big sponge). i really like the results, but now am thinking maybe i should be moving more water. i have read about the rio malfunctions, and thought maybe i would replace it with a mag something. and finally, more g/h means higher velocity, and i don’t want to blow the coral away. the water movement now seems gentle but constant and pretty well distributed.
