GFO Dust particles harmful to the tank inhabitants?

Would have to assume they aren't good as they suggest the GFO be well rinsed before using it. Did you get much in there?

GFO is rust. Rust floating around your tank = no good and can be harmful in abundance.

I rinsed but it seem some small particles still getting through to the DPT...

i think you will be ok, just make sure to blow off your corals.

I have some dust particles even after rinsing for 15-30mins. If you have it in a sump, place the output in a filter sock for the first few minutes to reduce the chance it getting released in the DT.

+1 i have my gfo reactor discharge into a sock.

From what I've seen of GFO, the makeup of GFO are all practically the same. The difference is size/capacity/amount of pores. I've had brs (not HC) and rowaphos and both had a dust even after rinse.

Discharge it into a 4" sock. That's what I do and this way at the same time you are filtering the water even more. Change the sock when it discoloration completely
