I'm not sure what you are finding hard about changing the media? Im sure you know how to do it, but for me It takes about 5m: Pull supply water line and remove the rx, next open and empty pulling the down tube, strainer and sponge out as you empty, rinse both sponges, the only real pita part is next when putting the media back in because the down tube needs to be held to the side or a it should be plugged with a small rod or something, last put the top strainer and sponge in place, then make sure there is no media on the thread or the Rx will leak when put back together.

Yup I have a few too, and Ive never found reason to break the whole thing down and scrub it. For what reason? Turn down the flow and the sponge won't clog with media, detritus yes. This is a 5min job difficult level 1; it takes longer to run my algae mag than change the media.
