I recently been running the BRS dual reactor and noticed a drop off in my corals. I never ran carbon before till this reactor which I believe is the problem. I run the GFO in the first chamber and was recently told to run the carbon first so the GFO will catch anything the carbon releases ? Anyone done this with theirs ?water looks great but I shocked my tank.

I've been running the BRS dual reactor for about 2 years, I have always use the GFO in the first chamber. I don't think it makes much of a difference to be honest. I would just keep an eye on things, the BRS ROX carbon is pretty aggressive, especially if you have never ran carbon before on a mature tank.

Did you put new GFO and carbon the same time? maybe stripped your water. I think it might be something else becasue carbon should not kill sps.Carbon only cleans your water and I know you cant overdose this.Maybe you added to much GFO becasue some times this strips the water to quick and I hear lots of people lose sps becasue of this

I did exactly that at the same time! And I ran it before adding to my tank till the GfO ran clear. Must of stripped too much goods out at once

what was your po4 before you added the gfo? could have been a combo of the water being clearer so the light penetrated farther and stronger so the corals bleached and retracted polyps. and if your po4 disapeared or went untraceable overnight that can cause a shock to your system also.. so the combo of both probably hit hard.. shorten your light cycle slightly and just let it be, maybe lower the amount of gfo used(test) and the corals should recover just fine..
