Hey, I've got eight 10gal. tanks that need to be drilled. I've already drilled a bunch but I've also cracked quite a few in the process because the glass is thin on these. I think it would be better if I found a professional thats good at doing it for the last 8 tanks. I already have the bits and I'm willing to pay someone to do it for me. Please let me know, thanks!

I would not recommend drilling 10 gallon tanks. The glass is too thin. I've done it before while setting up a system in my old shop. Not only is drilling into them a delicate matter so is plumbing them up. The weight and vibration of the pvc can cause the glass to crack.

while I generally agree with you guys on the fragility of the tanks, I have drilled over 60 10g tanks from the bottom and used uni-seals with 1/2 pipe for drains for a wholesaler system - cracked ONE tank - and that was because I accidentally kicked it :-(

Definitely a risk though manageable.

I'm actually just using bulkheads to 90 barb and down into a common sump so theres no pvc or heavy plumbing involved. I've got 8 drilled already for system and theres 8 more for another but I've cracked 3 during the drilling process. The glass is really thin. I'm actually gonna make another attempt tonight and see how many I can do until I break another. Thanks guys!
