Have a new custom king sump... should I be gluing the pvc into the slip bulkhead on the intake?. I've read inside the tanks overflow can be not glued and then gluing all fittings under the tank.... but not sure about the bulkhead intake of the sump. Thanks!
If its inside of the sump, and doesn't need to be leak proof, then no gluing needed since it would just leak a little right back into the sump. If its above the waterline then yes, glue it or it will have salt creep buildup. Outside the sump definitely glue or you might come home to a big puddle.
Not sure what exactly you are talking about but if its a drain not necessary to glue since water will flow down through the bulkhead. Returns are a different story. A picture might help.
my question is the pvc that im going to run from the tank to the bulkhead not the pvc already inside the sump. its a slip bulkhead, do i have to use glue... it would be nice for ease of removal if it wasnt necessary but i have a feeling it is.
I suggest gluing because there is a very high chance of slow water seeping out and it'll just go right to your floor. If you want ease of removal of the pipes, add a union unless you mean removing the bulkhead.
For my reef, I learn if it can go wrong, it eventually will so better to plan for the worst, hope for the best. Maybe not this week or month, but it'll be when you're least prepared for it
Teflon tape for slip bulkheads? Teflon tape is for threads. If anything, use threaded bulkheads and then a male threaded PVC piece with Teflon tape which should give you a sealed fit
