A few weeks ago, I noticed that my pistol shrimp was missing. A few days later, the shrimp goby it was paired with was also gone. I assumed the worst.

Now, I see that they are both in my sump. My tank is a Zeroedge, which means that they both made it over the edge of the tank, made it through a trough system, past macro filter pads, dropped into these rectangular filter areas, and through a length of 1 1/2 inch tubing. I have had a couple of fish go over the edge and found them in the trough area, but nothing has ever made it all the way down.

I know this might be hard to picture if you don't know the tank setup (link below might help you to understand), but any thoughts about how they did this and how they found each other? Chemical attraction makes no sense because of how water flows from the sump into the tank and back.

The other question is how to get them back into the tank. I have limited access to the sump because of the cabinet it's built into.

Thanks
