What is the big difference between regular salt and crystals? I use Instant Ocean salt and I've seen their Reef Crystals. Are they better??

the crystals have added flavor.

actually they have added trace elements and more CA, stuff that coral likes, yummy.

with a CA reactor and magnesium stones im sure IO would be the same as RC salt.

I don't have either one of those.... So, it seems that Reef Crystals is the way to go. Should the switch cause any kinds of problems? Can one mix the two?

don't mix the two in one batch. start by doing small water changes with the new salt. do a few small changes, then one big one and you should be good to go.

I didn't go slow. I just switched. My tank looked better with reef crystals than it does with IO. But I got a bucket of IO cheap, so I'll be using it for a while.

Now, I also just saw on the site a "Lifegard Customflo Water System." Anybody used these? Heard anything bad about them?

I used crystals for years then about a year ago I switched to oceanic, but I've had issues with slime ever since, after reading up on it on Reef central I noticed that it is a common problem with oceanic, so I am switching back to crystals with this order.
You can't beat that price especially considering there is no extra freight charge.
