I went camping for 4 days and as Murphys law states my auto water top off/Kalk decided not to work. I returned to find my pump putting excessive air in to my tank. I Quickly fixed the problem and got the tank back in order. That night I tested the water to find Calcium had dropped from 400 to 260 and Alk had gone up. Would CO2 from the air percipitate the calcium?? Would this make my Green Sinularia shrink up? I did a small water change and started the Kalk drip again and the Calcium tested 370 today. However the Sinularia still wont open. Any ideas? Buy the way, I think I was very lucky in one area, the pump which almost ran dry was a RIO.

I think the sinularia should be fine, give it a couple of days.

I'm not really sure what happened w/ the ca/alk but i don't believe that CO2 had to do with it though, otherwise we would have that problem alot, especially at night when there isn't a large CO2 demand. Someone can probably explain it chemically but it seems normal to me. HTH

What was your SG when you returned? With no top-off, it might have been high enough to stress the sinularia pretty badly. Just keep an eye on it--sinularias are pretty hard to kill...

Don't know about the calcim/co2 question, but when a coral is stressed, it'll shrink up. It'll probably be fine, just give it a few days. When your water is back where it likes it, it'll think about coming out again (as a test of it's health, push your finger into it, if it goes through, uh oh, toss it, if it feels like it should, then leave it alone and wash the soft coral smell from your hands).

Thanks for the responses. When I got home from work today my corral had fully extended again and was shedding an outer layer. Looks healthy and polyps were all out.
Thanks
