Ok. I was on reefcleaners.org and was amazed by the selection of plants they offer. I am interested in everyone's opinions regarding the following idea. How would a tank (55 gallons) look with half coral on one side and then all reef plants on the other?> Not sure if it will be aesthetically pleasing or not.

A long while back people use to keep and grow marine plants in their reef tanks. The problem was that the plants could take over the tank and grow into the coral skeletons or on rocks and you would have a hard time removing it. Also some fish would eat it all. You also have to worry about some plants going asexual in the tank. So you need to be careful which type of plant you put in the tank and keep it in check by harvesting it as it grows.

I had a tank with just an anemone and a Clown fish and I let the plants grow in the tank, mostly across the top of the tank, with the return water flowing over it, everything was fine and I didn't have any problems, outside of having to harvest the plants over time.

Thanks. Dre, halimeda was one of the first plants I checked out and decided I want. Will it look dumb though putting them in a tank with coral or can it be done you think so that they mesh nicely?

If you have a good eye for Aqua scape you should be able to pull it off. Halimeda sp. need strong lighting and calcium. Prolifera sp. is a good choice as well. One more thing the dead leaves will clog up filters etc.

I have thrown this idea around ever since I started in this hobby.
I would never grow it in my DT because I have a hard enough time getting into my 90 to clean things as it is... But I would love to set up a smaller tank with all plants.
Look through this thread, there are some AMAZING marine planted setups.
