I have flatworms, not an infestation but I was getting concerned and looking into taking action. I have a 6 line wrasse who is quite fat and happy. Not sure he has ever eaten a flatworm, but who knows. I also have 3 harbour gobies that constantly sift the sand and the crevices of in the rocks. Maybe they get a few from time to time???
About a month ago I couldn't resist and bought a beautiful Mantis shrimp. He was visible for the first few days then dissapeared. I also did not hear any clicking. About 2 weeks later 90% of the asterina stars were gone. A few days ago I'm doing a close inspection and notice there are only a few visible flatworms. Then to my surprise I start hearing clicking. Then yesterday he shows himself. More colorful then when I got him!! As I'm watching him, he is sifting the sand bed with his "legs". I assume he is searching pods and such.
On the otherhand, my fuge is loaded with flatworms and asterinas. Is it possible the Mantis is eating the flatworms??????
I don't have any crabs or hermits to worry about, only a few snails. The Mantis has otherwise been a model citizen.
