When I purchased my live rock, I first noticed some hairy worms that live within the holes in the rocks. They don't get very long, but now they've multiplied like rabbits and they're freaking me out. I would say that are a couple inches long.

Most likely, you have one of a variety of bristleworms that hitchhike into our tanks. These guys are almost always harmless and beneficially clean up uneaten foods and detritus. They are very prolific as you've found out. If you want to control their population, most pseudochromis or reef-safe wrasses (like sixlines ... i've seen fairy wrasses eat them too) can consume smaller worms.

I was just reading through some of the other forums and saw pictures of the same worms I have. Awesome. If they are little OCD bottom cleaners...they are just my type. I'll save the worm eating fish for emergency use only!
