I tore down my VHOs tonight to replace them with my old MHs. Granted they have not been used for three years but I hadn't heard that age was a problem. When I picked up one of the ballasts it leaked what appeared to be 3-in-1 oil or light lubricant all over the floor. Do they do this with age? Does this mean it's not usable? I plugged it in and it seemed to work ok, but I don't need a fire while I'm at work!
They have been packed in a box and sealed so nothing has leaked on them and the box doesn't have any stains on it inside or out.
