Came home from work to find half my fish and coral dead. My params are all stable so teying to pinpoint the problem. My water has a slight white tint to it is the only difference. Lost my foxface and solon wrasse so far and my kole tang is hanging in. Lps are shriveled up and bordsnest have no pe. My acros odly look great besides one that has bleached. Doing a massive water change now. Thinking its a pump i vinager soaked them for 30 mins last night in vinager if that could have caused something. They all are working though and i feel no stray voltage. Any ideas/help had my fish for over a year and eight hrs ago they were eating from my hand.

we are in similar situation. My tank is in the midst of a crash. Accidentally spilled some vinegar into my 29, woke up to my fish gasping for air (have them in a bucket with a heater and a pump) and half my SPS dead. Spent the whole day trying to get it back on track. Water is still very cloudy, almost white, even though I did a 75 percent water change today. Lost a lot of my frags :( just keep doing water changes, at least that's my plan

Well, update after a major water change and checking all of my pumps. I think my source of the problem isnt them, but a rock with 5 green palys i dipped in leftover vinegar to see if it would kill them. I was smart enough to wear gloves knowing about toxin, but then dumb enough to not think and put the rock right back into my tank. Fast foward eight hours and they are oozing stuff and my tank is a mess. Lost my foxface and solon wrasse, and my coral bueaty is mia. Only fish still alive is my kole tang and after my huge water change he is eating. My lps(scoly, hammer corals, and candy cane) are all shriveled up and looking bad. My two birdsnest have no extension and i have two other acros that bleached. My other twenty or so monti and acros have little extension but look alive so hoping they hang in. Only thing that looks fantastic is the rest of my ugly green palys which further makes me think paly toxin is the source. Im hoping my huge water change and swap of carbon will salvage whats left, cause im kicking myself endlessly for killing all three of my fish that ive had since i started my reef.

my guess would be the vinegar caused a bacteria bloom. in turn the oxygen is depleted, co2 rose, ph dropped, ammonia rose and killed the fish, alk dropped/rapid swing caused the acro bleaching/rtn, then the rest just snowballed. similar to overdosed/too rapidly carbon dosing....be it vinegar, vodka, bio-pellets.
sorry for your loss.
