hermit crab VS polyp rock

hi guys, I have another question. I have a rock with some frags of button polyps (I believe). we have 2 hermit crabs(from what I read I prob should have more) but 1 of the hermit crabsis always on the rock with the frags on it. will he eat them? should I try to keep them off the rock?

IMO most button polyps are pretty indestructible and I wouldn't be worried about the hermits doing them any harm.

That said, the fact that they climb around on some corals causing them to contract, and at times stealing food from their polyps is one of several reasons I'm not a big fan of hermit crabs.
