I'm leaving my tank for 8 days!!!
It should be ok, my main concern was my top off; last time I went away I got my lovely 80 year old Dominican "abuela"/neighbor to add water to the tank and she overfilled it to where the skimmer was shooting out splash that ruined the wall behind the tank.(It was my fault for not giving her better directions, I told her to use the 1/2 gallon bottles and just fill it "a little" every 2 days, apparently my translation was not too good). In order to avoid the same problem this time around, I bought some float switches from digital aquatics and set up a triple redundant ATO (not as easy as I had hoped but I got it). The water level stays nice and even and should last the week no problem. As for feedings, there are only 2 fish, a CUC and 1 head of dendro that need food. The fish and CUC will get daily feedings from my neighbor and I am going to feed my dendro as much as it can handle tonight and in the morning before my flight. ATO, heater and returns are on my RKL while my 2 sets of lights are on separate mechanical timers. Overall, nothing is foolproof but I feel pretty comfortable going away. Wish me luck, I'll be stopping in from Central America to check and see if there are any must read threads.
