Everyone has there own best ideas. You have to just layout what you think will work best for what equipment you have and where you want things. Other wise the basics are all the same. Usually a place for a skimmer 3 baffles at different height's to act as a bubble break, and maybe a section for a refugium, and if you like to use filter socks.

There are a few good reads on other forums, Just do a google search and read up. I remember there being a really good one from one of the mods on RC. Ill try and find the link.

first off figure out what your drain down is going to be, and see if the tanks you have will handle it.
2nd to design the sump you need to know the running water level of the skimmer.
3rd what size pump are you going to put in their, will the drain size handle the amount of water that you are going to pump up.
I have designed many custom sumps, if you need more info or helps just ask.

Yes that's mine. Ur welcome to come by and take a look anytime. It's a 10 gallon fuge and a 10 gallon sump under a 30 gallon cube. I always loved the display fuge. When i had my 280 i had a 40 fuge and a 75 sump.

I'd like to make a suggestion if you're looking for ideas. I like the design nuch has put together, however if I you want a more reliable flow from the fuge to the sump, you should just put a pvc 'T' on the overflow bulkhead on the fuge. Put a cap on the 'unused' leg of the 'T' and drill a small hole in the cap. Exact same way you'd build a Durso. Having the fuge overflow bulkhead go right into the 90 and down the pvc can cause an imbalance in the pressure within the plumbing and restrict the flow. Using the 'T' with a cap and hole in it will vent the plumbing and permit it to flow much better.

Display fuges are cool. There is awesome amounts of life and growth that goes on in these tanks.

all i would do is, because it will be a small fuge( only ten gallons or smaller) would be to overstock pods, and maybe some nps corals ( like grubes or other low/no light gorgonians, sun corals etc) along with a few types of macro... speaking of macro, is there a point to vodka dosing if i have a good supply of macro algea?
