How do you know skimmer is broken in

I just got this Reef octopus skimmer 4 days ago. The same night I put it on it was light skimming by the morning. By now it's dense and dirty. How do I know it's ready to go. Broken in. I know it seems pretty short time but this thing is skimming nice.

If its foaming its broken in, but keep your eyes on it and make only slight adjustments.

Yea. A really nice foam. It's pulling gunk out.

It all depends on your bio load
Dark nasty is good

If it smells like sewage, it's good. I have to clean the neck at least once a week to get the full potential.

Yeah she's broken in nicely , now if you make any adjustments , do them in very! Very ! Small increments .....you will soon see that turn darker and darker
