I've had my chiller for about 2 years now and resonantly it's Been coming on more frequently. Could it be it time to recharge it and if so how and were do I do this
You really need to check the pressures to see if it needs freon.
If there is a loss of coolant then you have a leak since it is a closed system. I think it uses 134A but you need to check and you need A/C guages to check the pressure . I've been out of the field for years so I'm not sure if they sell 134A to the general public or not ...maybe someone else will chime in . I imagine it's pretty much the same as any other refridgeration unit.
Might be a thermostat problem making it cycle on and off??
If there is no leak in the system then you don't need to add freon. Like I said , the only way i know is to put guages on the system to check the pressure. That will give you a better idea of what's going on. If the pressure is low then that means there is a leak and you need to add freon. If the pressures are good then there is no leak and it's something else?? In any event you got to find someone with a/c guages...........
i have had several chillers. some brands are better than others. not all of them are serviceable. many of them don't have service ports. without service ports, there is no way of checking the pressure nor adding freon. that's what i've been told by a home refrigeration technician(and a reefer) that serviced my chiller....couldn't find any chiller guy here in jersey. the 1/3 hp aqua logic delta star and 1/2 hp trade wind i have do have service ports. the 1 hp oceanic, 1/3 hp current usa, and a 1/10 hp arctic air do not.
there's a guy in long island that service chiller i don't remember his name. perhaps someone would chime in....or do a search for chiller repair threads. i have seen them on here before.
