I was considering buying a Mr. Aqua 12 gallon long but
1: its not available anywhere right now
2: While I really like the 3 ft long dimension, I would like a little wider and higher.

How difficult is it to build the tank?
It doesn't seem too hard just have to be careful to make sure the panes of glass are siliconed at 90 degrees.

What do you think the ballpark figures would be for the following glass panes:

36*12
36*12
36*12
12*12
12*12

I might have two holes drilled in one of the 36*12 panes for sump plumbing.

would be easier if you work with acyrlic

glass is not cheap. diy cant beat the price of mass production item (most of the time, consider the time you spend on making it), glueing it does require a lot more skills than it seems.

unless your flooring is cheap getting one professionally make is well worth the money.

Since this is not big tank, it will be easier to DIY if you are handy person. Once you have the glass cut you should be fine. If you are looking for glass place that is honest, helpful and very good prices then look up Bear Glass out in Brooklyn.
