i just got a ro unit ,some questions

i bought a coralife ro unit today, it says 25 gal per day,but isnt that at a certian water pressure. i dont know how much to turn on the water coming out of the faucet the unit has no pressure gauge. also is that 24 gal over a 24 hour period or can i just filter as much as i need and the 24 gal per day is a recomendation by the manufactur for their filter life expectancey :?

If I remember correctly...

The membrane is usually speced at a much higher pressure than your house provides, so just turn the water on full. I think that they are specced at 100psi? Your house usually runs between 40 and 60 psi

As long as the membrane stays immersed in water.. its fine.

Filmtec membranes are spec'ed at 77 degrees F and 50 psi. Other manufacturers typically spec their membranes at 60 psi.

Open your faucet completely.

RO membranes will typically remove 90 to 98% of many contaminants from the feed water. Think of deionization as a way to "polish" the water that comes out of the RO membrane. It removes most of the remaining impurities.

Reefers generally use Ro and DI.
