So I removed my eel and grouper from my reef so I can put fish back in there. I cleaned out my old 55 gal for the "predator" tank. I left some rocks in the 55 of course. After filling with salt and water and letting sit overnight the tank was clowdy. I was like, what the hell. Then I saw the culprit,,,,,I accidentally left two huge rocks of cocaine...just kidding...plaster of paris sitting in the rock pile. I need to know the possibly adverse affects of plaster of paris upon marine life, if any. From what I gather plaster of paris is calcium sulfate. Im not to well studied on sulfates. Any help would be app.

It is CaSO4. I am not very knowledgeable about the effects of sulfates on marine life, but my hunch is it'll be safe after some water changes to dilute it.

You can make feeding blocks from that stuff, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sulfate is the 5th most abundant ion in seawater. I would remove it, do a water change, and not sweat it.
