I think I have a lighting fetish

Working in NYC is great!!!! I went outside for a smoke break today to stumble upon a couple of those mini dumpsters full of 250w MH fixtures in enclosures and they all work!!!!! Frickin amazing! I grabbed 4 of em. (I figured the office would think I was completely wacked in the head if I grabbed more) I aleady have too much lighting!!! Im concerned for my mental state as I cant get enough lights!!

post some pictures man! I am a sucker for junk. My buddy moved to a new expensive Highrise in Boston. He was taking out his trash one day. Some dude through out 2 15" PC monitors. Mint condition! I got one and he toook one as well.
One mans junk is another mans treasure.

Rick, I know what you mean. Between sets of tennis the other night I walked over to look up at those huge lights that light up the court, my thoughts of course were on watts and lumens. Someone asked me what I was looking at and I almost told them, but caught myself knowing that they most likely wouldn't understand my fascination with these lights.

Sometimes when I go past a car dealership I peer into the MH bulbs to see if they are 1000W or 400W... My girlfriend must think I'm whacky... hahahhahaha

I may put them on the board here for whatever I can get for em. I already have a 400w pfo and a single 175w that I dont use. I use a 175w triple on my 37cube tank now that is only using 2 of the 3 ballasts. I was thinking about setting up a shallow 8inch deep tank next to it and using the 3rd for frags. I took some pics today at work and will post them tonight when I get home.

Here is a pic of one. I think each is a little different as far as orientation of the socket. The only thing they do have in common is that they all hum a little.

LOL....oh man, sometimes I openly wonder if I could somehow rig those big lights the city uses when the workers re-pave the streets and freeways at night...or the ones they use at PacBell Park, or any stadium for that matter....

We spec those lights for buildings all the time. The brand name is ArenaVision. Cool huh. Hows 1800 watts for a lot O light. The influx amperage on those things is 48amps. We blew (not tripped) BLEW UP a breaker with one of those. MORE POWER!!!
