Id new blenny

Not exactly sure what the name of my new fish is.
His tail has some yellow in it

Midas blenny
They are usually fully yellow
But they can turn dark like that

It's a midas blenny. It turns dark while acclimating or scared. It'll turn bright yellow/golden when it is happy and doing well!!


BTW, to add on that blenny has an awesome personality and likes to be seen so it's one of my favorite fishes ever owned! I'll be getting one for my new tank setup.

Where did you get him from? And how much if you don't mind me asking.


Probably an African Midas blenny, tend to be larger and have some nice colorations.

Usually only the African variant of the Midas is golden yellow in color.

I like him alot ao far. At first he only hid in a little cave. Now hea out and about swimming franticly. Seems very happy

He got bullied by my fat old royal gramma but omly lasted a couple hrs

Never had a fish acclimate and be comfortable so quickly.
Love his colorartion. Didnt look this good in the store

Got him sunday from maximum reefs in yonkers. Only $15. The guy said usually 30 but in sale.

I actually got 2, one for bx tank and one for nj tank.

I got him to help w algae. But just read they like meaty foods. Will he eat hair algae. Or just a cool new addition

if not, oh well, he looks nice and is always in sight.


he has such a long body, sometimes he bends and bites/itches his tail.
