I want to setup a couple of small identical reef tanks to test different methods of coral growth with the same equipment and coral frags in each tank. I am looking for ideas, advice and suggestions on what tanks and how to set them up for this experiment. Or even better if you happen to have anything FS to help get me going. Thanks in advance.

I think this makes a strong case for the difficulty setting up identical aquariums. The only way around this is to set up multiples of each type of tank. This will ensure the experimental results can be distinguished as happeneing by chance or as a result of the particular condition you are studying.
