Edge do u currently have a tank running? If so I can understand the wife getting upset if not its a really reasonable set up not a huge expensive to run tank!
Just fill it let it run don't add anything this way after baby and wife r happy u can start adding fish ur tank will be cycled!
I'm sure many on here can tell u my 7 mo old son has loved sitting with me looking at tank !!!

She actually wants to keep the tank more than me.Lol
I'm lucky that she loves the hobby as much as I do..if not more.
Its a beautiful tank but I just figured rather than storing, I would pass along to someone else to enjoy.
After tonight I will be keeping it and doing exactly as u said. Let it run and cycle until I am ready to set up.
I already went to aquarium village to look at livestock..lol
