hello...i'm going to be upgrading my lights from a current total of 460watts (2-175watt MHs and 4-24watt actinic PCs) to a total of 760watts (2-250watt MHs and 4-65watt actinic). Is the extra light going to bother my corals or shock them at all?
It could. You may want to put a screen over the tank to difuse some of the new light, shorten your light cycle, or put the lights farther away from the surface of the water.
This is my lighting schedule right now...8:30am actinics come on, 10:30am MHs go on and then 6:30pm MHs go off and 8:30pm actinics go off. Night has 4 blue moon lights.
Should I cut the MH period to 6 hours instead of 8 with the new lights for week and then go to 7 hours for the next week and then back to 8? The new light has 12 blue moon lights instead of 4 too
Ooo ok well idk, I use to run my MHs for 10 hours a day which i dont think was a good thing now it's 8 but i might just cut down to 6 then, save some money on that electric bill lol
i use to run mine 8 hr's a day and when i cut back i seen no difference in corals, did see it in my electric bill. also depending what temp bulb you use you can have antic's turn off when mh comes on as i use to do { save electric } forgot why i turned it back on all the time not that i feel it helps but i didnt want to reprogram my ac jr
