Internal Overflow Herbie method???

HI i picked up a 40 breeder and i am planing on drilling the back. I would like to use the Herbie method but i think the small internal boxes are to small for 2 drain holes.My plan is to get a full internal center overflow for the back of the tank so i san drill two 1 inch holes for the drains. does anyone see a downfall to doing it this way?

thanks for the response cmantis. how did the one d120 work on the 40 breeder is it enough light?
