What is the difference between the various brands of granular ferric oxide? Is it just the size of each particle or is there a more fundamental difference?

There is a website offering bulk quantities of generic GFO in either pellet or crushed versions. Is this just as good? Is there any advantage to pellet or crushed over the other?

An 8 pounds bucket of generic GFO is $115 plus shipping

1 pound = 453.59237 grams

8 pounds= 3628.73895 grams

1200 grams Phosban = $80

very roughly, the same amount of Phosban would be over $240

it seems like the Costco sized GFO is worthwhile. Has anyone tried it?

So the generic GFO costs $115 for 3629 grams (.031 a gram)

or for $140 (a tad bit more) you could get a known brand and quality and get 4000 grams of Phosar (.035 a gram)

The generic stuff is cheaper, and it may even be better for all I know as I have never used it. I do know that after trying phosar, phosban, rowaphas, and teh Drs F&S stuff, I liked phosar the best.
