is it just me or does coraline grow faster...

is it just me... or does purple coraline algae first appearence seem or grow the most on powerheads, hang on filters, overflow box, ect... rather then glass and live rock? im looking in my tank and i good a good amount of coraline algae on the glass and all, but if i look at my vortech mp10ES and EVO powerhead, they are covered already! i only added the vortech about a month ago, not even, and its covered already. also, the back of the glass always more then the front? what gives? my back glass is painted black, and getting covered, and i never saw it growing on the front yet. little nickle size dots on the side glass, but not front except maybe 1 or two dime size dots. the back glass has about 40-50 quarter size dots though. the front of my glass is not cleaned THAT often. why does it seem to grow on equiptment first and then back of the glass? or is it just me??

Coraline usually grows on surfaces with high flow first from my experience. Those places mentioned have very high flow typically.

I've noticed it grows on glass more.

Cleaning the front and side walls will inhibit growth on those surfaces.

Coraline certainly does picks the spots it favors to grow on, providing your water chemistry is right. here's a good faq site on it
