Is this ok to use?

Need some kind of safe epoxy putty to glue down a big piece of coral.
Don't want to spend 17.00 for aquastick from 38th st. (again):irked:
Went to home depot in Manhattan to pick up some aquamend cause so many people at RC say thats where to get it BUT...
They don't have it- not even in their computer inventory files:irked:
So I found this at the LHWS -says "rated safe for potable water contact" on the lable.

BUT is it safe to use?

He has the right glue for $5 a tube. It will take you 20 min to get there from Hells Kitchen if you hitch hiked at the right time. Soak the base... hold it in your tank for a minute and swirl it around the rock you want to glue it to for 10 seconds. Good product.

do u mind using gel glue... its available at the home depot... made by loctite... very good stuff... and cheap..

That was a figure of speech . My bad... another guy on MR who feels any of the 5 boroughs are too far away. Just trying to help.

I have no problem with spending money.....I just don't like being taken for a ride. I clearly stated I had already payed 17 dollars for a bad stick of glue from my LFS (and that was just yesterday). I need a lot so I don't want to spend 68 dollars plus tax for epoxy- would you? I'd much rather get a cheap safe glue and spend the extra money on corals!
For what it's worth-there are only 4 bouroughs outside of Manhattan.
I have no car but -have no problem riding the train or bus to any of the outer boroughs (which I do daily)
I asked if anybody knew of a source that was local- to me that means the city- "ALL" of it (well except maybe S.I.( i hate the ferry) .
Oh...and by the way- I CAN afford a reef tank - and a whole lot more,there'a a 112g starphire in my living room!
What I can't afford is to throw money away.

Gel glue is not strong enough (figures -that's what i have tons of).
I'm trying to secure some large coral heads to a sloped surfce that are likely to fall over, due to an anticipated urchin.

gotcha... i think ur only other choice would have to be ordering it online... if you dont want to pay 17.00 a pop for one...

do not use plumbing putty. dont risk it.
super glue gel may be stronger than u think. just have to set it upright for 5 min n use enough amount.

By the way....I would have no problems paying the $17 but, the sticks are old and crystalizing + they are only the size of your pinky finger!
I saw the sticks online and they are a whole lot bigger (200%) and the cost is only around $7.00 -much more realistic!

Why don't you take the train to another Home Depot in the other four boroughs? I have 10 sticks of aquamend in my fish room, best way to glue large pieces or rocks.

I would have no problem doing that.....but I found some already when I was in Queens this afternoon.
Just so others don't think I'm a hard head... when I was at the Home depot in Manhattan, They told me that they did NOT cary the product- and that it was not in any of their other New York stores either . They also looked it up on their computer for me, to verify that it was not available- so with the info Home depot gave me, (and no reason to believe they were lying to me), I felt there was no reason for me to try the other home depots!

I found the Aquastick was terrible. Firstly I have a 26 gallon tank. Using about a quarter of the tude (pink) caused the skmmer to go haywire for two weeks!! I called the maker and he said yes, due to the organic substance in the product, this will happen. The corals dont look too happy, so I am not sure.
He advised me to use activated carbon/poly filter to remove the substance causing the skimmer overproduction
