We are always looking for special tanks! If you have a nice tank, and want it to be featured, let us know!

The next topic: ecosystem tanks (reef crest, all sps, species tanks, etc)... if you have or know of anyone with such a tank, let us know.

We are setting up an in wall 72"X18"X24" cold water tank. We are planning on having the tank custom built. We have contacted various vendors who suggested acrylic thickness of 1.5" for maximum insulation. I am a little weary of their recommendations, since they are motivated to sell a more expensive tank. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Aside from double-walling a tank (pane of glass/air/pane), I don't see any way around a thicker aquarium. If it is only visible on the front side, you could insulate the back and sides and bottom and just leave the front as a single or thinner layer.

All that said, I'm no expert on thermodynamics or engineering.

Be interesting to see the result!

PS- Keep in mind that condensation can mar your view if its heavy... as well as accumulate around the edges.
